MARCUS VINICIUS FURTADO COÊLHO, Brazilian, lawyer, married, was born on January 31st 1972, in Sao João dos Patos – MA, Brazil. Son of Sérgio Coêlho Neto de Sousa (in memorian) and Maria Doracy Furtado Coêlho.
 
He was both student and teacher at Dom Barreto Institute. Bachelor of Law by the Federal University of Piaui; where he succeeded in the selection – holding the 1st place of this process – to become a Public Law teacher. 
 
Post graduated in Procedural Law at Federal University of Santa Catarina and in Fiscal and Tax Law at Legal Teaching Institute. PhD from the University of Salamanca - Spain. He taught at the Judicature Superior School and at the Prosecution Office Superior School; and, nowadays, teaches at National School of Law Practice, Sao Paulo’s School of Law Practice, Piaui’s School of Law Practice, Federal District’s School of Law Practice and Electoral Judiciary School. He was also a teacher and a member of the examining board of the postgraduate program of the University of Brasilia – UnB.
 
He is the author of various published books, such as “Electoral Law Manual; Public Agents – The Conduct during Elections Period”; “Misuse of Power in Elections – Electoral Procedural Instruments”, published by OAB publishing house; “Reformed Civil Procedure”, published by Forense publishing house; “Electoral Law and Procedure”, published by Renovar publishing house; “The Inviolability of the Right of Defense”, published by Del Rey publishing house and “Constitutional Guarantees and Juridical Certainty”, published by Fórum publishing house. 
 
He is currently lifelong honorary member of the Federal Council of the Brazilian Bar Association - OAB: he was the entity’s national president, secretary-general, federal councilor and president of national OAB Legislative Commission at the time of approval and sanction of the law concerning the inviolability of the right of defense. He was the national coordinator of the Unified Bar Examination, member of the Jurists Commission that elaborated the new Civil Procedure Code and member of the Senate’s Commission for the new Electoral Code. He is a member of the Institute of Brazilian Lawyers, where he also integrates the Constitutional Law Commission. He is a member of the Brazilian Institute of Electoral Law – IBRADE. He was a representative of OAB Federal Council in the dialogue with the Federal Superior Court – STF on General Repercussion.
 
He is a lecturer in the fields of Electoral Law, Electoral and Civil Procedure. He was an Attorney General of Piaui and is a practicing lawyer in Brasilia.
