He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law and is a Lawyer at the Faculty of Law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (1983).  He is a Member of the Lima Bar Association (August, 1983).  He has a Doctorate degree at the Faculty of Law at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain (1985). Since 1985, he has been a Professor at the Faculty of Law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru; since 1987 he has been a Senior Professor.  He was an Academic Secretary (1985-1989) and a member of the Faculty Council (1992-1998) in the same Faculty of Law. He was an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law and Political Science and of the Post-Graduate School of the University of Lima (1989-1996). He was a Consultant for the Ministry of Justice and Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Human Rights (1987-1988). He was a Consultant for the World Bank for the Reform of the Judiciary (1992-1993). He acted as a Deputy Member of the Superior Court of Justice of Lima, as well as an International Consultant for the Project of Principles and Rules of Transnational Civil Procedure from the American Law Institute (ALI) and a Research Fellow UNIDROIT (Rome, 2002). He is a Lecturer and Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Law in Jerez, at the University of Cadiz (Spain), from the Post Graduate Program at the Pan-American University of Mexico, at the University of Cuyo (Mendoza, Argentina) and at the Institute of Legal Research of the Autonomous National University of Mexico. He is a Member of the International Association of Procedural Law, of the Latin American Institute of Procedural Law, of the Pan-American Institute of Procedural Law, of the Peruvian Association of Constitutional Law, of the Latin American Institute of Constitutional Procedural Law, of The World Association of Mixed Jurisdictions (New Orleans), USA, of the Directing Council in Latin America of the Journal of Procedural Law (Madrid-Spain) and of the Columbian Association of Constitutional Procedural Law. 
He is an Honorary International Member of the Mexican Institute of Constitutional Procedural Law. He is Executive Secretary of the Peruvian Chapter of the Latin American Institute of Constitutional Procedural Law (IIDPC).  He is a Member of the Review Commission of the Preliminary Draft of "Model Code for Class Action in Latin America" of the IIDP (2003); of the Advisory Committees of Constitution and Justice of the Congress of the Republic and of the Ministry of Justice of Peru (2006); of the Advisory Committee Ad Hoc of the Foreign Ministry in the Peru-Chile Maritime Dispute in the Court of Justice in the Hague (2007); of the Advisory Committee of the Constitutional Procedural Code of Peru (2010-2011); Ex-Director of the LAW PCU Journal at the Faculty of Law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. He is the ex-Director of the Latin American Journal of Constitutional Procedural Law (Lima-Mexico). He is the Executive Secretary of the Peruvian Chapter of the IIDPC, of the Research Center for Compared Law and Procedural Law of Peru (CEDEPRO) and Co-Director of the Masters Program in Constitutional Law and Human Rights of the Bar Association of Lima.
