Curriculum Vitae

Coral Arangüena Fanego is a Senior Professor of Procedural Law at the University of Valladolid and a member of its Institute of European Studies. Having received an extraordinary prize for her degree, her professional career has been primarily connected to teaching and research of Spanish Civil and Criminal Law, as well as due to the legislative action of the European Union.

 

She has been teaching in various Spanish and international Universities, both in Bachelor’s and Undergraduate Degrees as well as Master’s Courses and Postgraduate and Doctorate Degrees, having directed seven Doctorate Dissertations and Projects related to Masters Degrees and a Doctorate Thesis.  Likewise, she has given numerous conferences in public and private Universities and Institutions within and out of the country.

 

She belongs to the International Association of Criminal Law, to the ECLAN (European Criminal Law Academic Network) of the Institute of European Studiesat the Free University of Brussels and to distinct Institutes connected to the University of Valladolid (Observatory of Human Rights, Head of Department of Brazil and Tordesillas Center of Relations withLatin America).

 

She is a member of the Council of Editing of the Publishing House Lex Nova, of the “Anuario de Derecho Público” magazine of the Publishing House Reus and of the on-line Journal of Research and Educative and Socio-Educative Innovation of the University of the Balearic Islands.

 

She has carried out research and teaching stays in prestigious Centers and Universities (among them, in Italy (Bologna, Bari and Catania), Argentina (Quilmes and Mar del Plata), Bolivia (Mayor de San Andrés and Gabriel René Moreno), the National University of Costa Rica, the Institute of International Studies of the University of Chile and the University Center of Administrative Economic Sciences of Guadalajara-Mexico). During these years, she has participated in numerous research projects on a European level (two), on a national level (nine), and on a regional level (eight), seven of which were under her direction.  She is also a specialist on topics relative to penal cautionary measures (personal and real), fundamental rights of defendants with special consideration of European and community protection, and procedural aspects of the European Space of Freedom, Security and Justice.

 

She is the author of various monographs, book chapters and magazine articles, coordinator and director of distinct collective works, she has combined her teaching and research work with University management tasks at the University of Valladolid where she was Secretary and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law and Director of the Buendía Center of Training of University Professors at the University.
